Aims of the Early Years Curriculum

The Early Years Team at Wix School aim to promote and foster your child’s natural sense of curiosity to learn within a safe, secure, stimulating, friendly and happy environment. Children have the opportunity to play, learn and make sense of the world around them.

Learning experiences will take place through child-initiated play and adult-led activities across all areas of development both inside and outside the classroom.

There are seven areas of Learning and Development

The Three Prime Areas

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

The Four Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the government's statutory framework that sets the standards that all Early Years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children are ready for school and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

You can find detailed information on EYFS on the goverment's website.

Please see WIX's Early Years Handbook.
